Analog Devices fido2100 Industrial Ethernet Switches are managed, 3-port Ethernet switches designed to add fault tolerance and synchronization to Industrial Ethernet Networks. By using the fido2100 Industrial Ethernet Switches, designers can provide low latency, time synchronization, and redundancy for any embedded Industrial Ethernet solution. The fido2100 Industrial Ethernet Switches support the Device Level Ring (DLR) and IEEE-1588 protocols. Both the DLR and 1588v2 protocols minimize the processing requirements on a companion communication controller.The fido2100 Industrial Ethernet Switches can operate in a ring configuration with single-point fault tolerance. The DLR protocol offers a means for detecting, managing and recovering from faults in a ring-based network. Capabilities such as beacon-based DLR and backup node supervisor are handled on-chip. When using the 1588v2 protocol, the transparent clock accounts for network latency or jitter and synchronizes the device without processor intervention.
