Worried about a secure VPN connection to your employer while working from home? Is your cellular personal hotspot a viable option for safe connectivity?

In a recent webinar, “Secure, Reliable Connections: Networking Strategies for Remote Workers,” co-sponsored by Mouser Electronics, DIGI offered insights into which of its products provide a safe remote working environment.

Randall Kerr, DIGI's Director of Product Management who reviewed applicable security products during the webinar, said the growing trend of workers setting up remote home office connections has resulted in increased corporate efforts to protect data.

Of course, remote employment is not really a new phenomenon, Kerr said.

“But the scenario where you have a large office with a lot of people who show up at the same facility and work closely with each other every day is becoming a little bit less common,” Kerr said. “Times are changing in that respect. Office rents (and) real-estate costs are rising. As time has gone by, employers have become more comfortable with the idea of a remote workforce.”

In addition, a new economy is creating a growing number of consultants, freelancers, and contractors who'll require unconventional workspace arrangements.

Kerr addressed the risks facing corporations supporting a remote workforce and provided several DIGI-based solutions in the webinar. Listen here.
